When completing my exercise programs, or anyone else’s for that matter, it is inevitable that you will come across certain exercises that you can’t do.
This may be due to a number of reasons. The most common reasons being a pre-existing injury that you may be managing; pelvic floor issues; an exercise is currently too difficult for you; or, you might not have access to a particular piece of gym equipment.
Therefore, when you encounter an exercise that you can’t do, I recommend you either:
One, swap the exercise you can’t do for an exercise that you CAN DO that TARGETS THE SAME MUSCLE. For example, squats instead of lunges; dumbbell chest presses instead of push ups; or,
Two, modify the exercise to it’s easier version if this option is available to you. For example, push ups on your knees instead of on your toes.
Just don’t quit.
If you can’t do an exercise it doesn’t mean you should quit and stop the entire exercise program completely.
Simply modify the exercise and do what you can to the best of your ability, and you will still achieve awesome results.
